UNIMEL VICE-CHANCELLOR ENGAGES WITH SUPPORT STAFF DURING A FRIENDLY GATHERING

Melaka, 20 April 2026 – Universiti Islam Melaka (UNIMEL) continues to strengthen a harmonious workplace culture as Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Abdul Khalil bin Shawkataly, Vice-Chancellor of UNIMEL, spent time engaging in a friendly breakfast session with the university’s support staff in a relaxed and warm atmosphere.

The gathering served as an important platform for the university management to engage more closely with its staff, while providing support staff with an opportunity to share their views, experiences, suggestions and new ideas towards strengthening UNIMEL as a progressive, sustainable and competitive higher education institution.

The session also reflected the university leadership’s commitment to adopting an open, inclusive and staff-oriented management approach. Direct interaction of this nature not only strengthens the relationship between university management and support staff, but also contributes to creating a more positive, productive and supportive working environment.

During the session, staff members were also given the opportunity to share their views on management matters, staff welfare, the working environment and continuous improvement initiatives that could be implemented at the university.

UNIMEL believes that the excellence of an institution does not depend solely on its top leadership, but is also shaped by the commitment, cooperation and dedication of all staff members, who play important roles at every level of the organisation.

The initiative also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, through efforts to create a positive working environment that supports the well-being of university staff. At the same time, the initiative aligns with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, which emphasises the importance of providing a conducive, productive and inclusive workplace. The practice of open communication between university management and staff also contributes to SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by strengthening transparent, inclusive and responsive governance.

Through initiatives such as this, UNIMEL will continue to strengthen a workplace culture that emphasises togetherness, well-being, open communication and a strong sense of belonging, ensuring that the entire university community moves forward together in realising UNIMEL’s vision and mission.
